We’re headed to Alberta! …not the Doc Watson song, the species of spruce tree, MLK’s mother, or the furniture company – but rather, the Canadian province also bearing that name.
It’s been two years since our last “Church Trip”, when we went to the Pacific Northwest. Clearly, we’re long overdue for some more travels (even though there’s really been no shortage). More accurately, we’re due a vacation, so we wanted to go somewhere relaxing and fun, and what better spot than the Canadian Rockies.
It won’t all be R&R though – we’re planning to travel to ~5-7 national parks (1 in the US and 3-4 in Canada), so there will be plenty to keep us active. Buckle up; there’s a lot to share.
Travel, Travel, Travel
Faith and I originally planned a long weekend trip to Boston in late April/early May. I’d been before (2016 and 2017), but she never has, so it seemed like a great opportunity to get away for a weekend, and to not waste our travel credit. However, our schedules quickly filled up, so we had to postpone that trip for now. Turns out, it hasn’t been the greatest time to travel after all due to the virus.
When I said “buckle up”, I was referring to the volume of potential travel we have planned for the year. So, in no particular order, our 2020 trips [should have] include:
A quick family update: my nose is healed, Faith is busy teaching 35+ music students this semester and playing at many weddings, Mom has recovered well from her surgery, and Dad is his normal self. That’s about all the new news.
This trip will be a different iteration of Church Trips, since it will be me, Mom, Dad, and Faith for the first time. With four people, it will certainly be a new breed of adventure.
I mentioned we’d like to visit [up to] seven national parks:
- Glacier National Park (Montana)
- Waterton Lakes National Park (Canada)
- Banff National Park (Canada)
- Yoho National Park (Canada)
- Glacier National Park (Canada)
- Kootenay National Park (Canada)
- Jasper National Park (Canada)
Generally speaking, we’ll be in the parks most of the time, but also plan to briefly visit the bustling city of Calgary, AB.
