Loved your adventures today. When my sisters and I visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park several years ago, not only was it 104 sweltering degrees outside, but they had just had a fire sweep through half the dunes which were charred black. Some of the road signs were burnt in the fire as well. Sand dunes out in the middle of the mountains were the strangest thing I had ever seen and the burned areas, just added to the oddity. We didn't do a big climb (one of my sisters had just had her 2nd knee replacement and wasn't ready for the unsteadiness of the sand); however, while they waited in the air conditioned vehicle, I did climb a small dune. It took me about 30 mins to climb and descend, during which I drank multiple bottles of water, completely soaked my clothes with sweat, and even with socks and shoes on, the sand was so hot it burnt my ankles. All the while, I imagined how difficult traveling in expansive desserts would be and realized how water was such a necessary commodity. Swirling through my head were thoughts of trekking something like the Gobi Dessert without water, seeing and stumbling to an oasis, only to realize it was all a mirage. I'm pretty sure I had some heat exhaustion, but, all-in-all, I was still glad I made the climb.

I loved your pictures and descriptions. I wouldn't want to see me descend that dune you climbed as fast as you two did...it wouldn't have turned out well Enjoy and keep the adventures and gorgeous photos/videos coming

Everything was so interesting!
I ALWAYS love the waterfalls. They are beautiful!!
The sand dunes reminded me of Jockey’s Ridge! The story about the dunes was so interesting!
I am not able to travel like I did years ago, so I really enjoy “traveling with you and Faith”!
